When Nathan was first diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2006, our family entered a world we knew nothing about. The world of childhood cancer is terrifying and complicated. We had a lot to learn and quickly. We had to learn about treatments, scans, blood draws, labs, medicines, and side effects, including how to handle them. We looked for help from other parents and Nathan’s medical staff. One thing that would have helped was a guide that we could have read and made notes in as we traveled this path. A guide to all those things other families have already learned. Something we could have carried around with us that would help us make sense of this new vocabulary and the things we needed to know. This book is for just that purpose. It is intended to help navigate some of the things you will find during your child’s treatment and recovery from cancer. It is not intended to be inclusive or to replace the doctors; it is intended to share experiences and knowledge, parent to parent. This book contains what my family has learned from the medical staffs we have worked with, other parents, and the kids we have been privileged to meet on our journey.

Learning to Dance in the Rain A Parent Guide to Neuroblastoma Diagnosis Treatment and Beyond eBook Rachel Ormsby Reviews
I found this book to be so helpful in understanding what happens to families who are stricken with Neuroblastoma.
It not only explains the disease and treatments, it taught me how to respect the wishes of the parents.
I highly reccomend this book to everyone who knows someone who has Neuroblastoma.
This book is a window into the world of pediatric neuroblastoma from the perspective of a mother who shares the story of how her family learned to dance in the rain. This insightful book can help any parent of a child fighting cancer learn the vocabulary associated with pediatric oncology, find their way through the maze of procedures and treatments including the strange world of bone marrow transplant. It's the story of a family and community who rose to the challenge of being the best possible support for not only their sick son, but also their daughter who was thrown into a world turned upside down by her brother's illness.
Helpful for health care professionals and families dealing with Neuroblastoma. Very talented and experienced writing, I would recommend this book!
This account of a family's travels and trials through the world of neuroblastoma and the field of medicine is so well put, so readable, so full of insight. I have know Rachel for many years and even I was astonished at what she has created here for others. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry but it will teach you so many things you need to know.
I gave it to my daughter in law to help her with dealing with neuroblastoma my grandson has.
Excellent resource Found out end of June 2015 my grand-nephew was diagnosed with neuroblastoma and this was VERY helpful!! It helped to understand one person's actual journey with this and what is to be expected. My sweet niece has a war to wage against this horrible disease for her son's sake and it was helpful to know how to encourage her as this is a very delicate journey.
such valuable information for families facing neuroblastoma affecting their children. A wealth of instruction to keep your life in the hospital and at home running smoothly for the parent and child and hope that it can be beat.
Rachel Ormsby put her heart in this and we are so happy to read they were blessed with their son's healing.
